Dec 23rd 2018!⃝As an avid consumer of Bhad Bhabie’s admittedly scant oeuvre, I felt a particular affinity with “Gucci Flip Flops” for its profound commentary on the nature of materialism, rife with irony and classical allusion. Structurally it resembles a Silva while in diction it draws upon the elegant simplicity of urban street language. Take for instance the line “fuck it, hit your bitch in the socks” the mood is violently choleric but vaguely restrained—the socks temper the speaker’s evident rage. In many ways B.B is a modern Sappho whose appeal transcends genre and indeed language itself
