I’ve been obsessed with this song since I heard it. It hits so close to home for me. That said...I don’t think she has completely turned into a monster, in fact I don’t think it’s a monster at all. I think it is a metaphor much like skeletons in the closet. She confused and conflicted. Her bad self (the monster under the bed) is asking these questions to her good self. It’s very much like Tyler Durden and the narrator from fight club. They are both one in the same, it’s just that one is a manifestation of how she views her dark side and how she’s loosing control. The imagery in the video shows it all on how her dark side is consuming or in this case, possessing her. She knows that the only way to beat it is to show it affection and care for it, while at the same time trying to keep it hidden. As the video progresses, it’s obvious she’s loosing that battle. Finally when she ask “when we all fall asleep, where do we go”, she’s referring to the equivalent of heaven and hell if she does do what she says “I want to end me”
