Everything is being replaced by consumerism and factories and man-made cities are sprawling out, spreading out. No one even knows how to react to nature anymore, which is dying because of pollution--global warming is mentioned: So call the mainland from the beach, Our pod is now washed up in bleach" ... "And nobody knows what to do with the heat, Under sunshine pylons we'll meet."
Everything is smoke from factories ("scary gargoyle on a tower") and pollution.
Even rain is compared to cheap rhinestones, and man is 'future pixels in factories far away'.
However, the most telling line is-- "Nature's corrupted in factories far away."
