Jul 27th 2018!⃝To me this song is really about unconditional love.
Every time i hear it, i imagine a relationship between a guy and his girlfriend, but this girl battles with depression and anxiety in her life.
The girl has a big amazing heart, loves to dance, loves music, truly wants to be all she can be and genuinely cares about people, but she also has this "weight" on her from her mental illness.
There are the good days when she can let loose and "dance like nobody's there" where she's feeling good, the anxiety and depression are far away, (like when they freeze you at the dentist...you know the pain is still there but you cant really feel it)...its a sunny day, a good day
...but there are also the hard days, when the depression weighs her down and the clouds come out, and it triggers her anxiety...this shadow of doubt, fear and paranoia starts to creep in...provoking physical symptoms (facial expressions, body language) that can sometimes be perceived by other people, and unfortunately can make those people feel off-put.
Those off-put responses, (no matter how minute)...are immediately picked up by the girl as weird vibes, and then amplified in severity due to the anxiety, and just like that...it can feel like the whole world is against you, and all you can feel is this heavy irrational sense of failure...
However, the boyfriend is there with her, he knows her, knows her heart and understands her struggles and feelings even if he doesn't struggle with depression himself. He made a choice a long time ago to love and support his girl (ALL of her)
So he walks her through her struggles, empathizing with her, saying words of support during the chorus of the song as if to say something like...
"Awe babe, i can see your having a hard time right now, i cant even imagine how you must be feeling...Don't worry about them though, they don't understand what its like and honestly that's okay, bcc how could they...don't worry about "normal" bcc everyone's got something...i know how easy it is for you to be hard on yourself...and how in moments like this you can feel so alone...you don't have to be ashamed or sorry for those feelings, its not your fault. Your a beautiful, amazing, kinda, caring, genuine, talented person with a good heart! You have inconceivable value and worth, and you are worthy of those things...and when it gets hard? ill always be here for you, because even when you feel like your alone, your not...so just do the best you can each day, whatever that best may mean...and in that? you will always be the life of the party to me"
