May 24th 2019!⃝This song is like a Frost poem... you have to be very attentive.
The defining chorus lines are:
The lover of life's not the sinner;
the ending is just a beginner;
the closer you get to the meaning;
the sooner you know that you're dreaming.
These lines set out the rest of the song.
1. If you take pleasure in life, you are not a sinner. We spend all our time making money on the "carousel" and put off things that are thought of to be sinful
2. Have you ever spent time with elderly people? They will tell you often times that if they had to do it all over again, that they would have stopped to enjoy life in the present. And now, the person realizes this as a beginner. There is not much life left, and s/he finally sees it.
3. The more an older person gets to the meaning of this in their lives, the closer they are to shed their mortal shell and be "dreaming."
So the lesson is that you should not just go along with what people or yourself expects. Yes, work. Hard. But enjoy life without guilt.
