Sep 23rd 2014!⃝I think that this song is all about consuming legal drugs ("I'm addicted to you, don't you know that you're toxic"). IMO, mostly tobacco ("It's in the air and it's all around") or alcohol ("I took a sip from my devil's cup"). Wonder if coffee and tea also count ("With the taste of your lips, I'm on a ride").
When this song came out on single in February/March 2004, I was 18 and half, trying different legal substances. Especially, smoking my first fag. Marlboro with orange filter and 2 gold stripes, and feeling my heart beating fast ("Too high, can't come down"), I quit very easily soon after. I'm a non-smoker and a tea drinker.
Everytime I listen to this song, it always reminds me this episode, it kinda tells me what cigarette smoke did to my body on that day. That's why I think this song refers to smoking - Brit must've been a cigarette smoker.
