Oct 25th 2011!⃝I believe (as a huge fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers) that the song is about war. How it ruins lives and is in actuality pointless. I find a story within this song. It starts out "Easily lets get carried away. Easily lets get married today. Shao Lin shouted a rose from his throat." This can be interpreted in many ways. Shao Lin (I'm guessing) is an Asian warrior that has been forced to join the army and has met a woman (that is later mentioned in the story) that he loves and she loves him as well. They decide to get married. He "shouted a rose from his throat" is a way of saying that during battle, he is giving a battle cry of love because he is in thought of his wife and is fighting only to return to her in the future. "The story of a woman on the morning of a war" This is Shao Lin's wife who the story is also about. "Remind me if you will exactly what we're fighting for" Implies on the pointlessness of war. "Calling calling for something in the air, calling calling i know you must be there." Shao Lin is calling for his wife as he misses her and she in return for him. "Shao Lin shaking for the sake of his soul" Brings us back around to war, Shao Lin is frightened and afraid. There are many other aspects of this story with their own ways of contributing to the song its self. Such as "throw me to the wolves because theirs order in the pack" Wolves fight for survival, which seems better to Shao Lin (Maybe to Anthony personally) because he feels that the battle he is currently fighting and feels that joining a pack of wolves would make more sense. As I said before, this can be interpreted in MANY different ways. As the Red Hot Chili Peppers create songs that have VERY symbolic lyrics that could mean almost anything. That's what I love most about their music. I feel that I can listen to any song and make it apply to me in someway or just make it mean what I would like it to be. Almost as if anyone can relate to some aspect of each song. Try to see what this song means to you! :)
